Graffiti workshop and spray paint lesson

Today I had the most amazing day teaching the super talented Mars how to use spray can and paint their very first street art piece down the famous Leake Street graffiti tunnel in London.

I did not pick up the can at any point and paint for Mars. She painted everything herself with my guidance.

I was so impressed with how quickly Mars learnt the whole process, at just 13 years old they are going to SMASH the street art world by the time they finish school. Watch out everyone!

How do graffiti lessons work?

I really love doing graffiti workshops and street art lessons. Each one is totally unique and based on the age, ability and confidence of the participant.

I first start by teaching them the basics, the dynamics of how spray cans work, the different types of caps, pressures and who to hold a can. From there it’s about getting paint on walls! I ask participants to pre-plan a design of their own of which they would like to create and paint on a wall. If the Participant is confident enough I guide them from start to finish in painting their art on a wall. If they would rather not have the pressure of painting a complete piece, I direct the lesson around creating fun doodles and improvised designs.

The most important thing you can learn when painting graffiti, it’s about having fun and not always about what you create at the end of it.
