Street Art Workshop & Spray Paint Lesson

Graffiti lesson in london

I had the pleasure of spending a day in London teaching the young and talented Élodie the skill of using spray cans and the world of street art. She designed her first mural on paper in advance before arriving, which she then painted in the graffiti tunnel “Leake Street” founded by world-renowned graffiti stencil artist Banksy.

Élodie took to the task with enthusiasm and skill, and I was amazed at her ability to learn the process so quickly. She painted everything herself, with only my guidance, and the finished piece was truly awesome. At just 12 years old, Élodie has a bright future ahead of her in the world of art.

A note from the client…

I really enjoyed my graffiti lesson. Sprite was really nice and easy to get along with. I was a bit nervous to begin with but she made me feel really at ease and we chatted throughout the whole lesson. She is a really good teacher and explains everything super clearly. She lets you do your own designs, even if it is not that simple! I really didn’t think that I’d be able to do as much as I did by the end of the lesson but Sprite really wanted me to be happy with what I had done and never rushed me to finish my designs. I can’t wait to go back to Leake Street and try it out by myself!

After a recent visit to Lyon, France, Élodie found a real interest in street art so we thought that a graffiti workshop would be the perfect birthday present for her but we had no idea where to start. Some of the group workshops on offer felt very “one size fits all” and not too inspiring for a 12-year old! After a bit of research, we found Sprites’s page and contacted her straight away. We could not have made a better choice! The workshop was completely tailored to Élodie. Sprite asked for Élodie’s own designs in advance so that she could work with these and she was really helpful in the runup to the workshop. The lesson itself was absolutely brilliant. After being a little nervous to start with, Élodie was quickly made to feel at ease and progressed really quickly thanks to Sprite. Sprite is a really good teacher and very patient. Élodie was able to complete two designs within the lesson and was so confident by the end of it. She enjoyed the whole experience immensely and cannot wait to pick up a spray can again

How do graffiti lessons work?

I love teaching graffiti workshops and street art lessons. Each one is unique, tailored to the age, ability, and confidence of the participants.

I start by teaching the basics: how spray cans work, different caps and pressures, and how to hold a can. Then, it's time to get paint on walls! I ask participants to pre-plan a design, or I guide them through fun doodles and improvised designs if they'd rather not have the pressure of painting a complete piece.

The most important thing I teach is to have fun. Graffiti is an art form, and like any art form, it's meant to be enjoyed. So relax, let loose, and let your creativity flow!
