Squirrel Mural for Concrete Canvas, Chelmsford 2024
I'm still buzzing from an epic weekend at the Concrete Canvas festival in Chelmsford, Essex. This incredible event transforms bland walls into vibrant murals, and I was lucky enough to be a part of it!
This year, I tackled a massive challenge: a 20-meter-long wall along the main road “Park Way”! That's right, 20 meters of potential for some serious squirrrelly awesomeness. For those of you who know my work, you won't be surprised to learn that I decided to paint a majestic squirreldashing through a mushroom and bluebell-filled wood. ️
The scale was definitely intimidating at first. It took a lot of planning and sketching to make sure the design would work on such a large canvas. But once I got started, it was pure joy! There's something incredibly satisfying about seeing your artwork come to life on such a grand scale.
The best part? Seeing the reactions of people walking by. Kids were pointing and giggling, adults were stopping to take photos, and everyone seemed to love the playful energy of the mural. That's what makes these events so special, the ability to connect with the community through art.
