Brighton Street Art / Graffiti Workshop
I recently had the absolute pleasure of hosting a spray paint and graffiti workshop in Brighton with a truly inspiring young artist, Sonny. This 15-year-old has a natural talent and a passion for street art that is infectious.
From the moment we started, it was clear that Sonny had the spirit and attitude to paint. He was eager to experiment with different techniques and wasn't afraid to take risks. Initially a bit shy, Sonny's confidence blossomed as he saw his ideas take shape on the wall. It was incredible to watch his artistic journey unfold.
By the end of the workshop, Sonny had created a bold and playful self-portrait. His natural talent and enthusiasm were a joy to witness. It's clear that this young artist has a bright future ahead of him.
Workshops like these are a reminder of the power of art to inspire and empower. It's incredibly rewarding to be able to share my knowledge and passion with the next generation of creative minds.
I'm excited to see what Sonny achieves in the future. Watch out for CHEZ on a street near you!
Graffiti workshop round 2!
Sonny has been doing exceptionally well since our very first workshop. In fact, he has even received an invitation to participate in a prestigious Street Art festival known as “Coastal Currents,” which is held in East Sussex. Additionally, he took the initiative to create his very own stencils while at school.
In our second street art workshop, we focused on revisiting the techniques that were taught during our initial session while also concentrating on building his confidence. I also provided valuable advice and assistance on how he can move forward with his education to support his aspirations of pursuing a career in art after he leaves school.
Since it was Halloween, he decided to work on a particularly spooky design to celebrate and mark the occasion!
How do graffiti lessons work?
I love teaching graffiti workshops and street art lessons. Each one is unique, tailored to the age, ability, and confidence of the participants.
I start by teaching the basics: how spray cans work, different caps and pressures, and how to hold a can. Then, it's time to get paint on walls! I ask participants to pre-plan a design, or I guide them through fun doodles and improvised designs if they'd rather not have the pressure of painting a complete piece.
The most important thing I teach is to have fun. Graffiti is an art form, and like any art form, it's meant to be enjoyed. So relax, let loose, and let your creativity flow!
